In what can only be described as a stroke of pure genius (or madness, depending on who you ask), a golfer in Indiana (named Landon Gilmore!) recently achieved the impossible: executing the infamous Happy Gilmore shot from the 1996 Adam Sandler movie of the same name. And while his friends are still questioning whether they witnessed a miracle or a mental breakdown, there’s no denying that this golfer has entered the annals of golfing history.

According to a recent report by CNN, Landon Gilmore managed to pull off the Happy Gilmore shot during a casual round of golf with his buddies. The shot, which involves taking a running start before hitting the ball, is not considered a conventional golf technique and is not recommended for most golfers. But this fearless (or reckless) golfer decided to take on the challenge anyway.

“I’ve been practicing the shot for a while and finally felt confident enough to try it during a round with friends,” said the golfer. “It was a great feeling to see the ball take off like that. I don’t think I’ll be doing it too often, though. It’s not the most reliable shot in my bag.”

The golfer’s friends were reportedly in a state of shock and awe after witnessing the feat. “We were all just standing there with our mouths open, staring at each other like we were in some kind of alternate universe,” said one of the golfer’s buddies. “I mean, who even tries that kind of shot in real life? It’s like something out of a cartoon.”

The Happy Gilmore shot is not without its detractors, however. Some golf courses have banned the shot due to safety concerns, and some golf purists view it as a blight on the sport. But for this golfer, it was all worth it for the sheer thrill of the moment.

“I know it’s not the most orthodox shot, but come on, it’s just a game,” he said with a chuckle. “Sometimes you gotta have a little fun out there, you know?”

Whether you view the Happy Gilmore shot as a stroke of genius or a mark of madness, there’s no denying that this Gilmore has earned a place in golfing lore. And who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll see more golfers following in his crazy footsteps. Or maybe not. Either way, it’s sure to be a wild ride.
